Rosett and Brent,
I was looking up a friend with the same last name as yours and I saw this memorial for your son Shelton. I live in Tennessee now and although we haven't spoken in a long time, my heart breaks for you both. I remember ys girls with our babies watching our husbands play basketball at the church. I'm so very sorry for your loss, and sorry that I found out 3years after the fact. I wanted to let you know that I'll add my prayers to everyone else's and ask God to continue to give you comfort and strength. Take care...

Dear Brent & Rosett,
There are no words to express our sorrow for you and your family in your loss. We thought the world of Shelton and will always miss him too. Many years ago this was published in our Sunday School paper and I hope it gives you some measure of comfort. The author was listed as Unknown.

“I’ll lend you for a little while a child of mine,” He said. “For you to love the while he lives, and mourn for when he’s dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty two or three, But will you, till I call him back take care of him for Me?” “He’ll bring his charms to gladden you and shall his stay be brief, You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return; But there are lessons that are taught down there, I want this child to learn.” “I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, And from the throng that crowds life’s lanes I’ve selected you. Now, will you give him all your love? Nor think the labor vain, Nor hate Me when I come to call and take him back again?” I fancied that I heard them say: “Dear Lord thy will be done, For all the joy the child will bring, the risk of grief we’ll run. We’ll shelter him with tenderness. We’ll love him while we may, And for the happiness we have known, Forever grateful stay. And shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned, We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes, AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND.
With love and sympathy, Jan & Wally

So very sorry for your loss. The pain of losing a son before his time is a pain parents should not have to experience. We continue to hold you up in our prayers. Hold on to the many good memories ....
