Pearl Yost Helmuth
January 29, 1922 – October 22, 2017
Pearl was a lifetime resident of Fresno County, graduating from Sanger High School and marrying her high school sweetheart Lawrence in 1941.
She loved children and adults alike. No one was ever a stranger. She was involved in many organizations, serving in leadership roles and becoming a lifetime member of most. Pearl also wrote several poems and short articles in the Fresno Bee until she lost her eyesight at the age of 80.
Pearl was always very creative and resourceful, from sewing, pottery and cooking to decorating. She became an icon at the Fresno Fair in the Home Arts Department for her award winning recipes. She won hundreds of ribbons and several “Best of Show” awards over her decades of participation, most recently at the age of 95. We thank all of the caregivers who assisted her over the years, giving her excellent care, support and assistance. This allowed her to continue to participate in the Fair making all of the things she loved.
Pearl was our family matriarch. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anna & George Yost, her Step-Father Henry Simon, her son Larry Helmuth & her husband Lawrence.
Pearl is survived by her daughter Gayle Black, her husband Steve, grandsons Bradley Black & Jeffrey Black, as well as three great-grandchildren Fiona, Makaiah, and Marley.
