Lorrin William “Bill” Martinelli

Lorrin Wm. (Bill) Martinelli was born May 3, 1926 to Laurino (Sam) and Mabel Martinelli of Daly City, California and passed away August 21, 2019. He was 93.

Bill spent his early years in the Bay Area. He served in the United States Navy aboard the troop transport ship, the USS Sherbourne during WWII from 1944-1946.

He met and married Lea Lotti of Madera and together they began their vineyard farming operation in Madera where he continued to oversee the day to day operation until his passing.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lea Martinelli of nearly 69 years, his brother Robert (Bob) Martinelli of Milbrae, California and his grandson Tommy Silva.

He will be missed by his daughter Lori Silva and her husband John of Madera, granddaughter Lauren Biscay and her husband Nick of Madera, step granddaughter Mellissia Silva of Virginia, numerous nieces and nephews. Mia, Brenna and Emily Biscay will also miss their “Nono”.

Bill was a member of the Raisin Bargaining Association and one of the original founders of the Vino Fino Club of Madera, Madera Farm Bureau and Italo-American Club.

Farming was a passion for Bill which is why even in his declining years he stayed active and engaged. He loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera.

Services will conclude at the church with a private family entombment at Calvary Cemetery in Madera.
