Lora Ladene Ricketts

October 21, 1931 – August 16, 2019 (age 87)

Lora, who was often known as Ladene or Dene, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a
lengthy illness on Friday, August 16, 2019, at the age of 87. Lora was born on October 21, 1931 to Leo and Clora Crosno. She married George Ricketts Sr. on October 6, 1951, they traveled extensively while he served in the United States Army and returned to Madera in 1969.

Lora, her husband George, and their son Butch founded Pools by Ricketts in 1979. She was active in building a thriving business until her retirement in 2011. Lora loved traveling, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was known to her granddaughters’ friends and teammates as Grandma Dee and was always present at their ball games, recitals, and theater productions. Lora loved babies, any babies belonging to anyone. She would play with babies in shopping carts, restaurants, or anywhere she might run into them.

Lora is survived by her son George Ricketts Jr., known as Butch, his wife Laura, two granddaughters, Lisa Gaines and Amanda Ricketts, brother Richard Crosno his wife Susan as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.

She is preceded in death by her husband George, parents, Sister Coeitta Stanford, and brother-in-law Leland Stanford.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Madera Municipal Golf Course Club House at 1:00 p.m.
