Carl Eugene Godfrey

Carl Eugene Godfrey, age 90, met with the Lord peacefully on June 17, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born on July 26, 1928 in Keota, Oklahoma to his father Alvis Godfrey and mother Ruth Godfrey. Carl graduated from Madera High in 1942, and later on in life he was a member of the Dan Gamel Travel Club. Carl was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Navy and later in the US Army, where he was honorably discharged. Carl also worked for Madera Irrigation for over 20 years before his retirement.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Alvis Godfrey and Ruth Godfrey, and his three brothers J.R. Godfrey, Claude Godfrey, and Charles Lee Godfrey.

Carl left behind his wife of over 66 years, Lucinda Jane Godfrey. Carl and Lucinda had six children, James Godfrey, Pam Winton, Michael “Turkey” Godfrey (Deceased), Patricia Blackman, Paula (Rocky Reid) and Jeffery Godfrey. Carl also leaves behind his eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Jay Chapel in Madera. Interment immediately following at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.
