Veronica “Vernie” Correia, 97, a native of Hughson California and a long time resident of Chowchilla passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Cedar Creek Retirement Community in Madera, where she had made her home since since November of 2012. Vernie was a retired bookkeeper for Anderson Pump Company for 30 years. In Chowchilla she was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and the Altar Society of the Parish. She also was a member of the former I.D.E.S. Portuguese Fraternal Society and enjoyed attending the Portuguese Festas. She was a fun & loving person, and trips to the coast with her family every summer were always looked forward to.
Vernie was preceded in death by her parents Joe & Virginia Cabral, her husband William Correia, her daughter Barbara McDaniel and her siblings Rollin, Clarence, Joey, Billy and David Cabral.
Vernie is the beloved mother of Beverly Hood and the cherished grandmother of Brian Hood, Lisa Noain Garner, and the great grandmother of Kaden, Sena, Lola, Riley, Madison and Jackson. Also surviving Vernie are several loving nieces & nephews.
Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 10 AM at St Columba Catholic Church in Chowchilla, with interment following at Chowchilla Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the Donor’s Favorite Charity.
