Theresa Valdivia Herrera

Theresa "Teddy" Herrera, age 85, of Madera California was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. On Thursday, February 11, 2021, while surrounded by her family in the comfort of her own home, Theresa earned her wings and went to heaven.

Theresa was born on November 13, 1935, in Madera California. She is survived by her Husband of 54 years, Perfecto "Pete" Herrera, her children Michael, Anita, Mark, and Steve; her 7 grandchildren Delia, Tony Jr, Mark Jr, Russell, Michael, Mindy. 16 Great great-grandchildren Mariah, Nevaeh, Andrew, Tatiannah, Mylah, Jeremiah, Nathan, Mark III, Jesiyah, Jaecob, Brianna, Bret, JJ, Paul, Luke and Katie. As well as one great great-granddaughter Sariyah Rose.

Theresa was preceded in death by her granddaughter Katie Marlow, close cousins Rose and Henry Soto, her mother Carlota Avalos, and father Inosencio Valdivia.

Theresa had a smile that could light up the room, and personality to match. Known by many as “Grandma Teddy,” Theresa enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with her family and friends, no matter the occasion. Her love for outdoor gatherings, Spanish music, and Vicente Fernandez was known by some and heard by all. She was always there to lend a helping hand and never met a child she would not love and nurture if given the opportunity.

Prior to her departure, Theresa courageously and resiliently battled Dementia for nearly 12 years. Although some of her memories began to fade, Theresa's love for her family, friends, and "honey" Peter never faded. As she always had her whole life, Theresa remained feisty and fought until the very end. Although her body is no longer here, Theresa's ever-lasting impression will live on.

We love you grandma, you were so brave and fought so hard! We are so proud of you! Although it hurts to know you are gone, we are so happy to know that you are reunited with Rosie and your Momma. We will miss you every day and will always cherish every laugh, every cry, and every "Grito." Your laugh can still be heard and your void can never be filled. Until we meet again.
