Syble Earlene Mooney
Earlene Mooney was born on September 28, 1935 to Oscar Earl Jetton and Erma Lucille Hickman Jetton in Yell County Arkansas. The family moved to a rural area near Chowchilla California while Earlene was still a young child. Earlene and her older sisters attended Alamo Elementary School and graduated from Chowchilla High School. The sisters were remarkably close and all three became nurses.
Earlene worked at the old Madera County Hospital for years, later working as a charge nurse at Westgate Manor Convalescent Hospital in Madera for nearly 30 years.
Earlene was married to Sammy Retton from 1956 until his death in 1970, having one son from the union. She married Archie Mooney in 1976 and was widowed again many years later.
Earlene lavished love and attention on her grandchildren taking them camping and fishing with Papa Mooney, shopping and to their various practices. In later years, she found a passion for playing slots at Table Mountain Casino.
Earlene was preceded in death by her sisters Louise and Lucille, and husbands Sam and Archie. She leaves behind one son Brian Retton, grandson Chris Retton, Granddaughters Samantha and Tamera, nephew Robert Williams and his children, and special thanks to grandniece Angela Andeola who helped Earlene so much in her last days.
