Stan changed my life.
In the second-half of the 1970s, I spent a couple of hours every weekday afternoon at the library (after school, waiting for my father to get off work and take me home). And being a typically inquisitive kid, I had many questions for Stan. I would tell him about some topic that I was interested in, and he would make suggestions about what I might want to read next -- things I never could have discovered on my own. He was like a one-man fount of knowledge that I could have access to whenever I needed to know something. His suggestions greatly expanded my horizons, and his patience and kindness seemed to be limitless. When I reflect on my life, I count him among the 5 most influential figures in my development. Madera -- and I -- were fortunate to have him among us.

My thoughts and prayers are with Becky at this time. Stan was a great guy- intelligent, humorous, and a classy librarian. I am so sorry for your loss.

Stan the Man! Enjoyed working with you all those years you were simply the best!! Finest Reference Librarian Madera County ever had. You were such an asset to the library and all the people you served in the community. Such energy and fun to be around. Thank you so much you helped me run the Chowchilla Branch Library with all of your wonderful information. I will always miss our wonderful Donatello!
