Soledad Maciel de Gil

Soledad (Chole) de Maciel Gil, 88, passed away with peace and grace at her home on June 5, 2022. 
 
Soledad was born in Chavinda, Michoacan, Mexico on April 17, 1934, to Luis Maciel Navarro and Soledad Ortega Mejia. Being the oldest of five children, it was clear that Soledad had the natural motherly love and instinct. 
 
On April 20, 1953, she married her loving husband, Evaristo Gil Moreno. They were blessed to welcome nine children. Soledad was a beautiful, optimistic, gracious, strong; sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and mother-in-law. She was the light, the rock, and the glue that held her family together. Her presence made you feel at home. A truly humble and pure-hearted woman.

Soledad loved nothing more than being a mother and a wife. She dedicated her life in raising her children into devoted Catholics. Most importantly, she helped raise the grandchildren, lovingly remembering each and every one of their names. However, the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the greatest love of all. No matter how occupied she was, she never forgot to send a card or her congratulations.

One of her greatest joys in life was preparing home cooked meals and sitting around the dinner table watching her family enjoy the labor of her love. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with family and friends. In addition, Soledad loved to use her artistic abilities to make flower arrangements, crochet, and knit.

Soledad is preceded in death by her husband Evaristo Gil Moreno, son Evaristo Gil Jr. and her parents Luis Maciel Navarro and Soledad Ortega Mejia. She is survived by her daughters Margarita Hernandez, Teresa Alejandre, Alicia Navarrete, Leticia Gutierrez, Elena Nevarez, and her sons Ignacio Gil, Luis Gil and Alfredo Gil. In addition to her brothers Joaquin Maciel and Ignacio Maciel and sister Maria Refugio (Cuca) Mendoza, plus her 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Soledad lived a full life as a wonderful devout Christian.  She will be dearly missed, but forever remembered and loved by everyone who she has graciously touched.  

Services for Soledad will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church,
401 W 5th St, Madera, CA 93637. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00 pm, and Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 28447 Ave 14, Madera, CA 93638.

Soledad (Chole) Maciel Gil, de 88 años, falleció en paz y en gracia de Dios en su casa el 5 de junio de 2022.
 
Soledad nació en Chavinda, Michoacán, México el 17 de abril de 1934, hija de Luis Maciel Navarro y Soledad Ortega Mejía. Siendo la mayor de cinco hermanos, era claro que Soledad tenía el amor e instinto maternal natural.
 
El 20 de abril de 1953, se casó con su amado esposo, Evaristo Gil Moreno. Tuvieron la bendición de dar la bienvenida a nueve hijos. Soledad era una bella, optimista, graciosa, fuerte; hermana, esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela, tía y suegra. Ella era la luz, la roca y el pegamento que mantenía unida a su familia. Su presencia te hacía sentir como en casa. Una mujer verdaderamente humilde y de corazón puro.

Soledad no amaba nada más que ser madre y esposa. Ella dedicó su vida a criar a sus hijos como católicos devotos.  Lo más importante, ella ayudó a criar a sus nietos, recordando con amor todos y cada uno de sus nombres.  Sin embargo, el amor que tenía por sus nietos y bisnietos era el amor mas grande de todos. No importaba lo ocupada que estuviera, ella nunca se olvidaba de enviar una tarjeta o sus felicitaciones en sus cumpleaños.

Una de sus mayores alegrías en la vida era preparar comidas caseras y sentarse a la mesa para ver a su familia disfrutar del trabajo de su amor. Uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos era pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos. Además, a Soledad le gustaba usar sus habilidades artísticas para hacer arreglos florales, ganchillo y tejido.

A Soledad le precedieron en la muerte su esposo Evaristo Gi Moreno, su hijo Evaristo Gil Jr. y sus padres Luis Maciel Navarro y Soledad Ortega Mejía. Le sobreviven sus hijas Margarita Hernandez, Teresa Alejandre, Alicia Navarrete, Leticia Gutierrez, Elena Nevarez y sus hijos Ignacio Gil, Luis Gil y Alfredo Gil. Además de sus hermanos Joaquín Maciel e Ignacio Maciel y su hermana María Refugio (Cuca) Mendoza, 20 nietos, 21 bisnietos, numerosos sobrinos y otros familiares. Soledad vivió una vida plena como una maravillosa cristiana devota. Nos deja un vacío inmenso en nuestros corazones pero nos deja en consuelo que ahora descansa en la Gloria de Dios Nuestro Señor.  
 
Los servicios de Soledad se llevarán a cabo el martes 14 de junio de 2022 en la Iglesia Católica de St. Joachim, 401 W 5th St, Madera, CA 93637.

El velorio será de 5:00 a 6:00 pm y con el rezo del rosario a las 6:00 pm.  La misa de cristiana sepultura será el miércoles 15 de junio a la 1:00 pm. El lugar de descanso final será el cementerio Calvary, 28447 Ave 14, Madera, CA 93638.
