Sofia Connie Sciacqua

Sofia Connie Sciacqua passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Fresno at the age of 80. She was born in Madera on September 1, 1941 to Geronimo and Adalina (Valdez) Manzanarez. Sofia was a lifelong resident of Madera, CA graduating from Madera Union High School, class of 1960. Connie worked as a Waitress at Walt’s Truck Stop for 15 years. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church. Sofia was past president of the Altar Society and worked on putting together the Harvest Festival at St. Joachim Catholic Church.

Sofia was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Margaret Lujan and Jessie Maciel.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Don Sciacqua of Fresno, her children, John Gonzales of Sacramento and Kathryn Wells of Fresno and Alex Gonzales of Madera, her two brothers, Lorenzo Manzanarez of Los Angeles and Ruben Manzanarez of Madera, her sisters, Hilda Carter of Madera, Dolores Arzate of Fresno, Jennie Valdiva of Madera and Marcella Mercer of Westminster, CA. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Madera, CA
