Socorro Valdez Owens was born on March 28, 1947 at 12:05 P.M in Madera, California to Arthur and Natalia Rios. Socorro Valdez
Owens, our beloved sister, mother, Tia (Aunt), grandma, granny, NaNa, Suegra, and friend was called home to be with our ever lasting Savior on November 15, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.
She was blessed to be born into a family of 9 Siblings, 6 Brothers, and 3 Sisters. Herself being child number 10. She loved being the baby of the family and had no problem letting her family know it.
Socorro was known by many names, Sokie, daughter, sister, wife, mom, Tia (aunt), grandma, granny, NaNa, and Suegra. Sokie was blessed with her first child her daughter born December of 1963. Six months later June of 1964 she married her 1st husband Alvin Tesnear and together they were blessed with 3 sons Alvin Jr., Duane, and Jesse. Her passion and love was her family.
Her favorite season of the year was summer. She loved going camping, fishing, working, in her rose garden of many colors. Red being her very favorite color. She also loved working and growing her vegetables. Her hobbies were putting puzzles together, playing Solitaire on her tablet, and watching old black and white western movies starring John Wayne or Clint Eastwood.
On August 9, 1988 she married her one true love Fred Owens and gained 2 additional sons, Douglas and Richard Owens. Sokie and Fred were married for 31 years, 5 months, 2 weeks and 1 day before her beloved husband passed away in January of 2019.
Sokie is preceded in death by her youngest son Jesse Tesnear, bother her parents Arthur and Natalia Rios, 5 brothers Arthur Jr., Billy, Alex, Joe, Manual, 3 sisters Lucy, Gloria, Aelmas (Chama).
Sokie is survived by her brother Domingo, her daughter Nellie, 4 sons Alvin and Duane Tesnear, Douglas and Richard Owens, son-in-Law Jerome Monselle, son-in-law Paul Raper, and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren Paul Raper II, Joseph Raper, Justin Raper, Dezary Smith, Tanna Jackson, Christopher Mcley, Lisa Will, Lisa Tesnear, Kellie Raper, Kaylee Esquivel, 15 great grand kids, Justin Raper II, Joseph Raper II, Emily Raper, Evan Raper, Paul Raper III, Alice Belcher, Abigail Rose, Aiden Durham, Krystlynn Durham, Adrienna Ojeda, Sophia Rosales, Evelyn Rosales, Vaida Mendoza, Alayna Mcley, Katie McClain, and many many friends.
