Thirty years ago, mom had to go to San Francisco to a specialist about the Melanoma skin cancer she found. She was told us that it had metastasized and they gave her 3 months to live. She was heartbroken, but did not let it stop her. She had a young family that needed her. She worked through it and lived another 60 years, but she carried a huge leg after the surgery to help it. She was a strong, loving woman because of it and a cancer survivor.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great grand-children with all her heart and drinking her sodas. She was a Christian women loved for her kind and supportive life. She went to Grace Assembly until her divorce in 1969 and then to Trinity Lutheran Church with her daughter Diana. We want to thank Pastor Dan Powell of Trinity Lutheran Church for visiting her at Avalon and agreeing to preside over the funeral at her graveside service at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.
We also want to thank all the nurses and staff of Avalon Health Care and Optimal Hospice in the care and services provided our mother. She will be missed. If you care to donate in her name send your donations in Memory of Shirley English to Trinity Lutheran Church of Madera. Thank you for caring.
Graveside services will be April 8, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Arbor Vitae Cemetery with a Memorial Luncheon to follow at Trinity Lutheran Church.
