Sheryl Ellen Holthouser passed away on July 21, 2020 at the age of 56 after 2 ½ years of battling cancer. Sheryl was born in Madera on May 16, 1964. She was a graduate of Madera High School class of 1982. Sheryl worked as a Personnel Specialist for California Department of Corrections for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband Larry Holthouser of Susanville, California, her mother Jeannie Turpenen of Madera, California, her brother, Charles Doolin, aunts, Susan, Donna, Mary, Joyce and Sue, uncles, Donald, David, Terry, Dean, Chuck, Bob and Ron, nephew, Nick, niece, Emily, cousins, Sandy, Jennifer, Andrea, Cristina, Michelle, Riley and Joe.
She loved traveling, visiting historic places, especially Monterey and going on motorcycle trips with Larry. Her favorite run was several years ago when she had her picture taken with Kyle Petty. About 2 years ago, she fulfilled a long-time wish, vacationing in Hawaii with Larry and Jeannie. Sheryl also enjoyed, hiking scenic trails, exploring the paranormal, ghost hunting in Virginia City, shopping for bargains, gardening and crafting. Her last project, she made a Halloween wreath for her mom, Jeannie. Sheryl even tried her hand at crochet. She liked to gourmet cook, trying different ingredients and developing new recipes. Playing with her dogs Jackson, Gemma, and cat Bella was a great part of Sheryl’s day.
Three days before passing, Sheryl told her mother she was ready, and that she was not afraid.
Graveside service will be held at Arbor Vitae Cemetery, Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 am, Madera, California
