Salvador “Sal” Belmontes passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his family at the age of 59.
Born in El Paso, TX, on August 16, 1960 Sal was the son of Jose and Clemencia Mendoza Belmontes. Throughout his life, he was an avid lover of sports and coached wrestling, basketball and softball. His favorite pastime was fishing, which he did every chance he could. Sal was very artistic and expressed it through his work in airbrushing, and metalwork & welding. He was every bit a family man who loved his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved being with them.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Jose and Clemencia Belmontes; his stepfather Juan Martinez; brother Juan M. Belmontes and sister Cuquita Belmontes de Barragan.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Eleanor Belmontes; five sons: Robert Belmontes, George Belmontes and his wife Gracie, Joe Arias and his wife Elvira, Michael Salinas and Isaac Salinas; three daughters: Jessica Low, Julia Low, Vanessa Tua’au and her husband Hiwa; five brothers: Jose Belmontes and his wife Rosie, Lorenzo Belmontes, Sr., Antonio Belmontes and his wife Gina, Martin Belmontes and his wife Carmen, Jesse Martinez; two sisters: Juanita Soto and her husband Joe, Maria Toor; and 22 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera, followed by Recitation of the Rosary also at Jay Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 11:00 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery, Madera.
