Mrs Ruth Elaine Upton

Ruth Elaine Upton, age 66, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Better known as Ruthie, by her family and friends, was born in Elk City, Oklahoma to Rev. Cleo and Vera Martin. The family settled in Madera in 1956. Ruth graduated from Madera High School with the class of 1971. Ruthie enjoyed the beach, camping in the mountains, road trips, finding treasures, taking care of business, jumping on the bed, and dancing in the kitchen.

Ruth married John Upton and they recently celebrated their 47th anniversary. Together, they were a beautiful example of strength and devotion. Ruth was a blessing to her two children, Julie Slayton of Madera Ranchos, and Jared Upton of Madera; beloved little sister of Elvin Martin of Madera and the late Lary Keith Martin Sr.; treasured mother in law to Robert Slayton and Tyler Dominici; Nana to Officer Shaw Bowman of Cumming, Ga, Avery Bo Slayton, Jackson David Slayton, and Ryder John Slayton all of Madera Ranchos; and also, to her grand dogs: Sabra, Archie, and Juniper all of Madera.

Visitation is on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 5PM to 8PM at Jay Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 9AM at Jay Chapel. Interment will follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
