Rosemary Poore

August 14, 1943 ~ February 10, 2018 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Rosemary Poore, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother left this world and entered the arms of our loving savior on February 10, 2018. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Rosemary was born on August 14, 1943 in Liverpool England, to Thomas Griffith Williams and Eilleen Williams (Breckell). Rosemary attended teacher’s college in England beginning a lifelong passion educating and caring for children. In her early 20’s, she traveled from England to Connecticut to take the position of a nanny. Rosemary subsequently moved to San Francisco, where she met the love of her life, Elwin John Poore. It was love at first sight and they married after dating for only six weeks. They remained loving, devoted partners for forty-seven years of marriage.

In 1975, Elwin and Rosemary moved to Madera, CA, where they settled down and raised their two sons, John and Michael. The family enjoyed spending their summers at their houseboat on Pine Flat Lake and traveling across country to visit family. Rosemary had a love for gardening, including cultivating many large vegetable gardens the bounty of which she shared with friends, family and anyone in need.

Rosemary regularly attended Trinity Lutheran Church and Harvest Community Church, where she was active in children’s ministries. Rosemary had a heart for serving the lord, praying for those in need, ministering to others, and always finding the good in her fellow man.

She loved children and was the teacher at Tiny Tots Nursery for several years. Rosemary subsequently started a home day care touching the lives of many children and their families, many of whom became cherished extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eileen. She is survived by her husband Elwin, son John and his wife Erin, son Michael and his wife Deidra, grandchildren Andrew, Zachary, Joshua, Ellie, Noah, and Elijah, brothers Peter, Rodney, David, and Thomas, and her sisters-in-Law, Lorene Christopher, Jane Hoffman, Judy Bott, Belva Bare, and Jerlene Perkins.

A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held on February 20, 2018 at 10 AM at Harvest Community Church, in Madera, CA. All those who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Rosemary’s name to the Madera Rescue Mission.
