Roland Van Johnson, age 70, a native of Texas and a resident of Chowchilla, California since 2005, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his residence.
Roland received his education in Texas before relocating to California, originally settling in Richmond, and later moving to Fremont for a time and then to Stockton, and finally in Chowchilla. Roland had a career with the United States Postal Service which he retired following 37 years as a Postal Clerk. Upon retiring he and his wife Mamie Maynord Johnson of 27 years decided upon Chowchilla as the community where they wanted to make their home in retirement. They worshiped at the Believers Church in Madera. Roland enjoyed spending time with his pets.f
In In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his siblings.
Roland is survived by his Step-Children, Glenn Miller Turner of Madera, California, Michael Ray Turner of Stockton, California, Dee Banks of San Jose, California, and Glenda Turner of Modesto. He is the grandfather of numerous grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Roland Van Johnson will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11 AM at the Believers Church of Madera, 117 North “E” Street in Madera, California.
Remembrances in Roland’s memory may be sent to the Believer’s Church in Madera.
