Roger Dale Holiday

Roger D. Holiday, 75, of Madera, Ca, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021. Roger was born in Madera on 3/1/1946 to Ralph and Joyce Holiday of Madera, CA.  As a child, Roger would continuously take off near the Fresno River and the local sheriff would find him and take him back home. In 1965, he joined the United States Army. During his service, he was sent to Vietnam for tour of duty with the 25th Infantry division. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, and a Bronze Star Medal. After returning from war in 1968, Roger returned home to attend college.

Roger married and had 2 children, Ralph and Robin, with his first wife. His Family migrated to San Jose, CA, where Roger worked at FMC before joining the SJ Police Department. He, was awarded the oldest rookie award.  After his divorce, Roger went back to work at FMC, cut hair part time, attended San Jose State, and received his Bachelor’s Degree.

During his life, Roger was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. You could regularly find Esther and him traveling to Morro Bay, or traveling between his children’s homes to visit his grandkids. If not, hauling unwanted items from his children’s homes, you could find him clipping coupons and trying to live as frugally as possible. He enjoyed trying new things, continuously learning and a good glass of wine.

In 2005, Roger met Esther Ibarra and they eventually married in 2011. They resided in Madera, Ca.

Roger is preceded in his death by his mother, Joyce Holiday and his father, Ralph Holiday.

Roger is survived by his wife, Esther Holiday, son, Ralph Holiday, daughter, Robin Muehlhauser, sister, Deborah Holiday, his daughter in law, Lyn Holiday, his granddaughters, Cassandra Tsolis and Reina Holiday, his grandsons Chase Rivera, Aiden Muehlhauser and Ryan Holiday and step daughters, Analine Flores and Laura Esther Flores, step son, Ulises Flores, and step grandchildren, Analine Giron, Valeria Giron, Lizette Giron, Sarah Esther Jimenez, Paola Sofia Jimenez, Alexa Flores, Isaac Flores and Gael Flores.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am on June 12, 2021 at Jay Chapel in Madera.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the VFW. The family would like to thank all veterans for their service.
