Mr Robert Lee "Bob" Rankin

Bob Rankin was born on January 23, 1951 and passed peacefully on March 18, 2021. He was born in Fresno where he lived most of his life, other than a few years in Stockton and Santa Rosa as a child. He attended Hoover High School and graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Wildlife Biology. He married the love of his life, Irene, in 1975 and helped to raise three beautiful children of whom he was extremely proud. He was also blessed with two beautiful grandsons that brought him so much joy.

Bob was a “born salesman.” After two jobs in sales, he began his career as a financial planner in 1981. He loved the business, and especially his clients, who became some of his closest friends. In 2019, along with his son, Jason, he formed his own firm, Strong Valley Wealth & Pension, with two other financial advisors. His passion for the business was evident as he continued to work from home this past year up until the days leading to his death. His other passion, besides family, was golf. He was a talented golfer and was heartbroken to have given it up when his health declined.

He loved and fiercely protected his family. He made sure he pushed his kids to be the best people they could be and installed a strong work ethic with them. He was extremely generous to his family and all the friends and employees who became family. He had a big heart and genuinely wanted to help everyone he could.

Bob is preceded by his brother, Bill Rankin Jr., his parents, William F. and Virginia Marie Rankin. He is survived by his wife, Irene, son Jason (Kailyn), daughter Ashley (Nick), daughter Kelly (John), grandsons Dane and Decker, sisters Barbara Murray and Cheryl Sweeney (Ed), along with many relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 9, 2021, at 10 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Fresno, located at Friant Road & Champlain. Mass are required and social distancing will be observed. The service will be live streamed and may be viewed on the Holy Spirit Parish Web Site.
