Richard Anthony Ramirez Sr.

Richard Anthony Ramirez, Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the age of 87 in Madera. Richard was born on February 29, 1932 in Tempe, Arizona to Antonio and Rose (Valenzuela) Ramirez. Richard and his family moved to Madera when he was seven years old. He attended Madera Schools finishing at Madera High School in 1949. Richard married the love of his life in 1951 and they were happily married for 68 years until God called him home.
In his younger years Richard worked at a sawmill located at Dinky Creek, later he became a truck driver for Western Farm Services, retiring at the age of 62, a thirty-two year career. Richard served his country in the US Navy.

Richard was an avid equestrian and he loved his horses and riding horseback. Our fondest memories are of him riding in local parades and trailering his horses to Oregon during summer vacations. On horseback, he and his family explored the mountains of Oregon and search for “Big Foot”.

Although he loved his horses, Richards’s greatest love was spending time with his family. He enjoyed bringing family and friends together to feed them and make new memories. His family gatherings consisted of eating good food, good music and left us with memories of his amazing dancing.

Richard was a loving, caring, funny man who had a way of knowing how to tell it like it is.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Ernestine Ramirez.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vera Esparza Ramirez, his children Annette Ramirez, Rick Ramirez, Valarie Ramirez, Ronnie Ramirez and his wife Irene and Santos Pena all of Madera. Richard also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held on, Friday, May 31, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery, Arbor Area, Madera, CA
