Petra Martinez Sanchez

Petra M. Sanchez was born in San Juan, Texas to Leonardo Martinez and Sotera Diaz on April 29, 1922. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at her home in Fresno CA. She was 99 years old.

Petra was the youngest of six siblings, and the mother of two sons, Cecilio Sanchez, who she preceded in death and Gilberto Sanchez. She lived most of her life in Donna Texas, before relocating to Firebaugh California to live with her son Cecilio.

Petra walked unassisted, until her last year of life. She enjoyed taking walks around town, and eating out as much as she could. She was also a devout catholic with a strong work ethic, and a strong mind.

She is survived by her son, Gilberto Sanchez, six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

We will honor her life with a funeral service at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1558 12th Street, Firebaugh CA on Thursday, June 24, 2021. A viewing will occur at 8am that morning, followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10am, and then mass beginning at 10:30am.

The burial will follow mass, and will be held at Saint Peters Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave Fresno CA 93706,
