Pauline Eddy Gray

December 26, 1924 ~ February 22, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Pauline Eddy Gray danced her way into heaven on February 22, 2018 at 9:00 am. She died at Eden Villa Residential Care Center in Pleasanton California of Natural causes. She had been under the care of Hope Hospice for the last 3 months.

On December 26, 1924 Pauline Ella Rippee was born in Rippee Missouri to Elizabeth Rippee(Wallace) and Raymond Pettyjohn and raised by her grandparents Polly and Ed Rippee in Parlier, California. She Lived to be 93 years old, despite a rough beginning, she always found the good in everything and everyone. She frequently said “I love people and I live each day like it is the last because you never know when it might be.”

She married Clarence William Eddy at age 16 at a double elopement ceremony with Lloyd Rippee (Uncle/brother) and Mildred Ward in Reno Nevada. She and Clarence had four children together Pauline (Polly) Eddy Wiggins, William (Bill) Eddy, Clarence (Jug) Eddy Jr. and Paul (Wayne) Eddy.

She was a hard working woman who did various jobs such as working at a packing house, delivering mail, and running a printing press. Even after she and Clarence retired moving from Santa Clara to Vacaville and then to Madera she would find work as a tour bus hostess and would take a bus full of people to Reno, Tahoe, and the Indian Casino’s. She was an independent and liberated spirit even from the very beginning and until the very end.

After losing Clarence Eddy to Lung Cancer in 1990, she later married Gerald Gray in 1998 and in 1999 she lost him to cancer. A short marriage but she considered Gerry a soul mate.

Pauline was active in the VFW, American Legion and Eagles Auxiliary’s. She met many friends there including Gracie and Ted Sanderson. Years later when Gracie passed away, Ted and Pauline became companions and saved each other from the loneliness of widowhood. They spent 14 years together until his death in 2015. She loved family, friends and people in general. She could make you laugh. She could make you cry. She was ornery. But she always wore that infectious smile .
