Tribute

Patricia Hundley Fettik
1929-2022

Patricia Marie (Hundley) Fettik passed away peacefully on September 25 at the age of 93. She was born on January 24, 1929, to Clinton and Frances Hundley in Chicago, IL where she grew up surrounded by extended family. She graduated from Visitation High School and briefly attended Loyola University in Chicago. She moved with her family to Ontario, CA at the age of 19. Soon after her arrival in Ontario, she joined the Christopher Club at St. George Catholic Church. There she made many lifelong friends and met the love of her life, Wallace Fettik. Pat and Wally were married on February 19, 1949 and were married for 56 wonderful years. They raised their four children in Ontario.

After the youngest child was in school, Pat took a full time job at the Chaffey High School Library reference desk from 1962 until her retirement. Pat loved working at the library, helping students with assignments, making displays and being part of the Chaffey High School staff. Of course she made a point to check on her boys each morning to make sure they made it to class!

Pat and Wally loved to travel with their family. Pat planned many camping vacations that took the family to Yosemite, Twin Lakes outside of Bridgeport, across the United States to Washington DC and New England, through Canada and many other beautiful destinations. Later in life she and Wally enjoyed staying at various beaches in California in their trailer.

Pat and Wally retired to Oakhurst, CA where they enjoyed the company of family and friends for 24 years. Pat loved to decorate her homes and entertain family and friends. Many dinners were held on the deck of their home overlooking a waterfall on Lewis Creek. They were a very active couple and joined many social groups, including the Bass Lake Boat Club, Book Club, Dance Club, Sewing Group, Mountain Community Women, Garden Club and the Church Guild. Wally and Pat designed and built two homes in the Oakhurst area and she expressed great joy in the design process. They continued to enjoy travel both locally and to Hawaii and Europe.

Pat and Wally moved to Clovis for several years, and after Wally’s passing, Pat moved to Fresno to be closer to family. Each new home was an opportunity for Pat to decorate a new living space and she thoroughly enjoyed this process.

Pat is survived by her children, Carol Morgan, Cyndy and her husband Terry Dolph, Jim, and Tom and his wife Leslie; six grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Matthew, Diana, Ashley, and Ethan; and six great-grandchildren, Chloe, Hailey, Alex, Jordyn, Brixton, and Margot. Viewing will be held at Jay’s Chapel in Madera on Tuesday, October 18, 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A burial mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno on Wednesday, October 19, at 10:00 am. Committal will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario on Thursday, October 20, at 2:30 pm.
