Tribute

Michelle Frances Boswell Giannetta
July 3, 1969 – September 23, 2022

Michelle passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 23rd, 2022, in Palo Alto, California at the age of 53. She was the daughter of William Albert Boswell and Frances Jeanne Frazer Boswell. Shortly after her birth in San Rafael, California, she moved with her parents to Fresno, California.

Michelle attended Starr Elementary, Tenaya Middle School and graduated from Bullard High School in 1987. Michelle met Bret Giannetta in 1989 while they were working together at Weinstocks and attending California State University, Fresno. They fell in love and married in 1992. They had two sons together which she deeply adored.

She was gifted academically and very athletic. Michelle took to soccer at an early age and played on the Bullard High School varsity team winning a Valley championship. She continued to play soccer and played softball until she suffered a heart attack at the age of 28 in 1998. Michelle (Coach G) loved the sport of soccer so much that she turned to coaching in addition to taking care of her family. One of her greatest joys on the soccer field was watching a player execute a play that she recently taught in practice. Michelle coached and mentored many young athletes over the years, and several players stayed connected with her to continue their friendship.

She worked in retail, for local United States Congressmen, and as a scheduling administrator for Community Regional Medical Center. While working for Congress, she was successful in helping many people from all over the world immigrate and become American citizens.

Michelle always thought about others first and devoted herself to helping people. In addition to helping raise her sons and support her family, she volunteered for several organizations helping with fundraisers and served on the Board of the American Heart Association, among others. Her kind and giving heart was felt by her family, friends, and anybody that got to know her.

Michelle was predeceased by her father. She is survived by her husband Bret (Fresno), her sons Alex Giannetta (Fresno) and Matthew Giannetta (Lawton, OK). She is also survived by her mother Fran (Fresno), brother Chris Boswell (Reedley), sister Danielle Smith (Cypress, TX), father-in-law Gary Giannetta (Fresno), mother-in-law Donna Giannetta (Fresno), brother-in-law Ryan Giannetta (Anaheim Hills, CA), aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and several cousins.

We would like to thank the many doctors at Community Regional Medical Center and Stanford Hospital and Clinics that let us have Michelle in our lives for an additional 25 years.

A mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fresno, California on Thursday, October 13th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
