Mrs Mary Theresa Fialho

Mary Theresa Fialho passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Joseph Fialho.
Four daughters: Kathleen (Patrick Whelan) , Cheryl (Reggie Hill), Cynthia (Donn Furman) and Rebecca Fialho.

Three grandsons: Nicholas, Tyler and Kyle.

Her “adopted daughter” Beatrix de Boer of the Netherlands remained close to Mary and Joseph after her stay as foreign exchange student in 1974. Beatrix is survived by husband Roland Schipper, two daughters and four grandchildren.

Mary was born on September 22, 1934 in Modesto, CA to Antonio and Angelina Pereira.
Mary’s parents and siblings Tony and Hilda all pre deceased her.

Mary graduated from Modesto High School in 1952, and soon after married Joseph. Joseph and Mary settled on the family farm in Dos Palos after Joseph returned from service in the US Army.
After selling the family farm, they enjoyed many years living in Oakhurst. They ultimately moved to a retirement community in Fresno.

Mary was devoted to her family and was the steadfast, full-time, farming partner to Joseph. She was an excellent homemaker, cook, and talented seamstress who made most of the clothing worn by her daughters including prom and wedding attire. She sewed elaborate curtains and many other home décor items. She taught her daughters, by example, well-grounded values. She enjoyed reading and sharing a good laugh. Mary traveled in later years, visiting her ancestral country of the Azores, Portugal, and a visit to the Netherlands to see her adopted daughter and family.

Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her. No services are planned at this time.
It is Mary and Joseph’s wish to be laid to rest when they can be together again.
