Marrelina "Annie" Abundis

Marrelina “Annie” Abundis peacefully passed away in her hometown of Madera California. Annie was born in Madera to Magadalena and Baudelio Abundis and was 1 of 11 children.

A very energetic and independent woman who settled in San Francisco in the early 60’s to pursue her own life’s interests and dreams. Annie became employed by Woolworth’s Company as a Front Line Cook located on Market Street next to the famous Powell St Cable Car Turnaround. She met her future partner Fortino Larez, fell in love, and both raised their only son Richard. She retired in 1990 and soon afterward returned to her hometown of Madera.

Annie was an exceptionally loving mother who sacrificed, nurtured, and gave her son a wonderful childhood. She always encouraged learning and opportunities for her son to pursue whatever he chose in life. She was a sweet and spirited mother, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Annie loved flowers and a fresh new bouquet would always be displayed weekly at home. Once she retired, she loved to work in her garden and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren including the family dog Chico. She loved to have a conversation with anyone and was always eager to give advice and share some of her life’s wisdom.

Annie is survived by her only son Richard. Grandchildren Anthony, Ryan, and Noah. Great Grandchildren Richie, Natalie Rose, and Milo. Sisters Beatrice, Marylou, and Esther.

Rosary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 21, 2022, Rosary, 11:15 a.m. Mass 12:00 p.m., St. Joachim Catholic Church, Madera, CA
