Maria del Refugio Gonzalez Aguirre

A beautiful, optimistic, gracious, strong; sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and mother-in-law. She was the light, the rock, and the glue that held her family together. Her presence made you feel at home. A truly humble and pure-hearted woman. She was 83 years young.

She fought till her last breath. Without a doubt, she had the heart of a warrior. Her beautiful brown eyes closed forever on April 18, 2022, in Fresno, California.

Born on June 1, 1938 in Ciana de Arriba, Valparaiso Zacatecas, Mexico to Antonio Gonzalez and Gregoria Reyes. She, along with her 8 siblings were raised in Ciana de Arriba.

On May 31, 1952 she married Bernabe Aguirre in Ciana de Arriba, and had 11 children. She was a brave, strong woman who with the help of her eldest daughter brought all her kids to Madera, California. She worked tirelessly tending her children who were her pride and joy. She worked in agriculture and at Morgan’s dairy. She was very passionate about gardening and enjoyed canning tomatoes, nopales, peaches, and pears.

Once retired, she traveled many times to Utah to visit her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, sister, nieces, and nephew. Occasionally she would go shopping, eat out, yard hunting,
hair-colored and cut. She also traveled many times back to her hometown to visit El Santo Niño de Atocha whom she had devotion to and went to Mexico City and visited Our Lady of Guadalupe, Acapulco, Meoqui, and Tijuana.

Upon passing she leaves behind her husband Bernabe Aguirre. Her sons/daughters: Anna (Juan) Ibarra, Luis (Maria Elena), Guillermo (Lilia), Mariano (Luz Maria), Maria (Miguel) Hernandez, Ofelia (Antonio) Flores, Roselia (Jose Luis) Castro, Everardo, Antonio (Elizabeth). 28 grandkids, 24 great-grandkids, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Sisters: Esperanza and Maria de Jesus, many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, children: Maria Elena, and Ofelia. Sisters: Maria de Jesus, Simonita, Marianita, and brothers: Juan, Rodrigo, and Rito. Grandson: Adrian Alex Castro. Great Grandkids: Matthias Sanchez, and baby Rodriguez.

Una bella, optimista, graciosa, fuerte; hermana, esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela, tatarabuela, tía y suegra. Ella era la luz, la roca y el pegamento que mantenía unida a su familia. Su presencia te hacía sentir como en casa. Una mujer verdaderamente humilde y de corazón puro. Tenía 83 años de edad.

Luchó hasta su último aliento. Sin duda, tenía el corazón de una guerrera. Sus hermosos ojos cafés se cerraron para siempre el 18 de Abril de 2022 en Fresno, California.

Nació el 1 de Junio de 1938 en Ciana de Arriba, Valparaíso Zacatecas, México a Antonio González y Gregoria Reyes. Junto con sus 8 hermanos se criaron en Ciana de Arriba.

El 31 de Mayo de 1952 se casó con Bernabé Aguirre en Ciana de Arriba y tuvo 11 hijos. Era una mujer valiente y fuerte que con la ayuda de su hija mayor trajo a sus hijos a Madera, California. Trabajó incansablemente para cuidar a sus hijos que eran su orgullo y alegría.
Trabajó en agricultura y en la lechería de Morgans. Le apasionaba mucho la jardinería y disfrutaba enlatar tomates, nopales, duraznos y peras.

Una vez que se jubiló, viajó muchas veces a Utah para visitar a sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos, hermana, sobrinas y sobrino. Salía de compras, salía a comer, corte y color de pelo, en busca de las yardas. Varias veces regresó a su ciudad natal y fue devota Del Santo Niño De Atocha a quien visitó en varias ocasiones y también fue a la Ciudad de México a visitar a Nuestra Virgencita de Guadalupe, Acapulco, Meoqui, y Tijuana.

Al fallecer deja atrás a su esposo Bernabe Aguirre. Junto a sus hijos/hijas: Anna (Juan) Ibarra, Luis (Maria Elena), Guillermo (Lilia), Mariano (Luz Maria), Maria (Miguel) Hernandez, Ofelia (Antonio) Flores, Roselia (Jose Luis) Castro, Everardo, Antonio (Elizabeth). 28 nietos, 24 bisnietos y 1 tataranieta. Hermanas: Esperanza y Maria de Jesus, varias sobrinas y sobrinos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, hijos: María Elena y Ofelia. Hermanas: María de Jesús. Simonita, Marianita y hermanos: Juan, Rodrigo y Rito. Nieto: Adrián Alex Castro. Bisnietos: Matthias Sánchez y bebé Rodríguez
