Margaret Louise Smith

Margaret Louise Smith passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the age of 89 in Madera. She was born in Caney, OK to James and Pearl (Hardis) Cupit on November 25, 1929. Margaret has been a resident of Madera for 68 years where she attended the First Southern Baptist Church. She worked at Simon Cleaners as a presser for 25 years. Margaret loved to bake pies, and was known for her famous coconut chocolate and coconut cream pies, she loved to cook and make peach ice-cream. Margaret’s home was open to everyone, and she was willing to help anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, of 67 years, Lester Smith in 2015, her brothers Jim Cupit, Harry Cupit, Billy Ray Cupit and Donald Cupit.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Cathy Fleming of Fresno, Vickie Boehm and her husband Roger of Madera, Debbie Pierson and John Garcia of Madera, her brothers, Gene Cupit and his wife Freda of Oakdale, Jerry Cupit and his wife Mary of Waterford, Lee Cupit and his wife Ellen also of Waterford and Steve Cupit and his wife Margaret of Alabama, her two sisters, Ora Hastings of Oakdale and Merle Rhoadas of Waterford. Margaret also leaves behind nine grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and one great great-grandson.

Visitation will be held on, Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA

Graveside service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Arbor Vitae Cemetery, Madera, CA
