“Our Little Lady”
Margaret Mata, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on February 9, 1944 to John and Petra Silva in Madera, California.
Throughout her life you could find her in the kitchen making the best chicken mole, chile verde, tamales and her famous chile. She loved creating beautiful crafts that she would willingly share with her friends, family and the community. Margaret was known for her green thumb. She could make any plant or flower flourish under her care all while avoiding a water ticket. Her favorite pastime was listening and dancing to her Sunday morning oldies. In her spare time she enjoyed thrifting and refurbishing antiques.
Her many talents and gifts continue to live on in her children, grandchildren. As she set an example of how to live life with grace, strength, and love we all strive to emulate. She was a beautiful soul who will be missed by all who knew her, and remembered for leaving this world a better place than she found it.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents John and Petra Silva, her brothers John Silva Jr., Richard Silva, Porfie Silva, and Frank L. Silva, and her sister Angie Silva.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lorenzo Mata, her son Lawrence and his wife Gina Mata of Madera, her six daughters Hortencia and her husband Rick Kline of Madera, Stella and her husband Albert Gonzales of Fresno, Donna Mata of Madera, Darlene and her husband John Lund of Madera, MonaLisa Mata and her husband Angel Villarreal of Madera, and Yolanda Mata of Madera, as well as sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Margaret also leaves behind her three sisters Rita Silva of Stockton, Mary Perez of Lodi, and Lisa Osuna of Arizona, her three brothers Jessie Silva of Madera, Rudy Silva of Lodi, and Joe Silva of Madera, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 10:00 to 12:30PM at Jay Chapel in Madera.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Valley West Christian Center in Madera. Internment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madera.
