Tribute

Macaria Vasquez de Torres, 79, of Madera, passed away on August 7th, 2020 while being in the care of the Madera Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Macaria was born on December 9th, 1940 in Santa Maria Tindu, Mexico by two loving parents, Ernesto Antolin Vasquez Ramirez and Maria Cervantes Cortez. In 1960, Macaria married Fortino Guadalupe Torres. The admirable couple had been married for approximately 60 years. Their marriage is one that most would describe as traditional, honest, humor-filled, charismatic, and most of all loving. Although Macaria was born and raised in Tindu, she moved to Oaxaca Zaragoza to pursue a family with loving husband Fortino G. Torres. Soon after deciding to migrate to Madera, CA where they, along with their beautiful family, reside.

She worked as a farm labor migrant usually traveling from California, through Oregon, and ending the working season in Washington. Along with this most identify Macaria as a full-time caregiver for all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. Macaria helped raise, shape, and teach around 25 individuals. She was often considered a strong female mentor to most, creating a mindful atmosphere for all. Macaria will be most remembered for her unconditional love to all those she encountered throughout her life.  She exemplified and resembled the true love of Christ in the purest form.

Macaria was a dedicated member of the Church of Latter-Day-Saints which are also best recognized as LDS. She was preceded in death by her father Ernesto Antolin Vasquez Ramirez, her mother, Maria Cervates Cortes and her siblings Gabino Vasquez Cervantes, Antolin Vasquez Cervantes and Julian Aureliana Morales Lopez and is survived by her spouse, Fortino Torres, her children, Bernardita Cortes, Herminia “Soccoro” Herrera, Maria Ricarda Basave, Antonio “Tony” Torres, Juanito Vasquez, Ernesto Torres, Andrea Perez, Regina Vasquez, Cesar Torres, Marisol Torres, Maria Rosie Barragan and her 10 son & daughter in laws, 43 grandchildren and 25 greatchildren.
