Lenora M. Hardgrave formerly of Arkansas and resident of Madera, CA for 76 years, passed away on February 2, 2020 at the age of 95 in Madera. She was born January 16, 1925 to Riley and Mary James Laymons, in Texas. Lenora was a member of the Northlake Church of God. She married Manuel Smith who preceded her in death and later married John Hardgrave who also preceded her in death.
Lenora was a very kind and loving person who always had time for her children and grandchildren. It could be said of her that she was ‘Right with God’. Some her favorite pastimes included traveling and cooking. She made the best peanut butter cookies ever.
Lenora was preceded in death by both parents; her first husband, Manuel Smith; her second husband, John Hardgrave; stepdaughter Brenda David; great-grandson, Justin Woods; and four brothers: Emitt, James, Marion and Orville Laymons.
She is survived by her son, Michael Smith; stepson, Larry Hardgrave; one daughter, Dianna Stansell; one stepdaughter, Sharon Hardgrave; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Jay Chapel Funeral Home in Madera, CA.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.
