Tribute

Lena Faye Valorosi, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2020. She was born in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas on June 19, 1929 to Alex and Gertie Hays.

Faye currently resided in Fresno, she had formerly been a resident of Madera since 1946 when she met and married John Valorosi. She became a farmer's wife, farming in the Howard District of Madera where they raised their family. Faye worked for a time at Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. in their Madera Office as a switchboard operator before the introduction of the dial telephone. Faye was a devout member of St. Joachim Catholic Church where her children attended the parish school. Faye also volunteered her time at the former St. Vincent DePaul thrift store of the Parish. Faye enjoyed attending Farm Bureau and Madera Irrigation functions with her husband John and in later years could be spotted at the Indian Casinos on occasion.

Faye is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Johnny in 2001, by her infant son
Johnny Richard in 1947, her brother Alex (Odell) Hays of Bakersfield, brother Mervin (Mert) Hays of Arkansas, sister Helen Furlano Thurman of Fresno, and brother William (Bill) Hays of Arkansas.

Faye is survived by her baby brother, Charles (Chuck) Hays of Pleasanton, California, her son

Richard Valorosi and his wife Stephanie of Huntington Beach, Ca, son Steve Valorosi of Madera, daughter Loretta Arter and her husband Doug of Madera, and son John J. Valorosi and his wife Lynn of Grants Pass, Or.

Faye is the beloved grandmother of Chad Valorosi and his wife, Katie of Fresno, Amanda
Valorosi of Long Beach, Ca., Joshua Valorosi of Seattle, WA, Clint Arter and his wife Becky of Madera, Crystal Arter of Hemet, Ca., Briana Valorosi of Carbondale, Co., Kaytlin Valorosi of South Lake Tahoe, Ca., and Bella, Annika and Vanessa Valorosi all of Madera; and many nieces and nephews.

Faye is the beloved great-grandmother of Jeremiah and Lena Valorosi and Donna Mitchell of Fresno, Gage and Caleb Arter of Madera, RayAnn Conley of Madera and Chloe Williams and her husband Darian of Lakewood, WA.

The family would like to thank the wonderfully attentive caregivers, Mercy and Toto, at Victoria's Care Home for their loving devotion to Mom these past two years who were truly her "angels" each day.

Private services are under the direction of Jay Chapel. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Madera. Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
