Lawrence Eugene Sage

Lawrence “Larry” Sage, 86, a native of Chanute, Kansas and a resident of Madera for 57 years passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. He served his country in the US Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic from 1954 until his Honorable Discharge in 1962. He met and married Barbara Brosi and settled in Madera for the duration of his life.

Larry owned and operated Larry’s Garage from 1969 thru 1977 on E St., He then continued in the auto repair business by working at Schoettler Tire as the Front end Manager until his retirement in 2015. Larry and Barbara co-owned Gateway Screen Printing from 1984-1999. In his spare time he enjoyed working on old cars, racecars, go-carts, anything with a motor would purr like a kitten when he was done. Larry was a member of American Legion Post 11, VFW Post 1981 and was on various local Men’s Bowling Leagues.

Larry is preceded by his wife Barbara in 1999.

He is survived by his children, Greg Sage and his wife Kendra of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Laura Williamson and her husband Kent of Madera, CA and Lee Sage and his wife Amber of Coarsegold, CA. His sister Opal Starkey of Manteca, CA along with 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Arbor Area at Arbor Vitae Cemetery, Madera, CA
