Katherine Eloise Kves

On Thursday, June 11, 2020, Katherine Kves passed peacefully in her sleep, in Madera, California at the age of 93.  Kathy was born on April 16, 1927 to Beauna Elizabeth (Weaver) and John Sweger in Lamar, Arkansas, and was the oldest of ten siblings.
 
Katherine married Virgil Bettes in 1947, and together they raised three children.  Elaine was born in Tulsa, OK, and Gary and Kathy were born in Madera, CA, where Katherine continued to reside until her death. After the death of Virgil in 1970, Katherine met and married Rudolph Kves in 1973. After her retirement from Oberti Olive Canning, she and Rudy enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing, and spending time with their grandchildren. 
 
While one might first notice her height, you would quickly come to know her engaging smile and capacity for love and acceptance.  She was an active member of Madera Pentecostal Church of God, and derived much joy and faith through prayer and other church activities, especially the Ladies’ Group.
 
Katherine was preceded in death by first and second husbands Virgil Bettes and Rudolph Kves, children, Elaine Wilson, Gary Bettes and Kathy Blanco, parents, and siblings Ruby Lewis, Arlene Keithley, Doyle Sweger, Corliss Boyett, and Carol Large.
 
She is survived by her children’s spouses, Ray Wilson, Glenda Bettes and Santos Blanco; grandchildren Luci Wilson, Minna Glover, Karl Blanco, Martin Wilson, Lynda Wilson and Julia Lopez, nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, and siblings Beatrice Louthan, Marvin Sweger, Melvin Sweger and Leonard Sweger.
 
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Jay Chapel at 1211 Roberts Avenue in Madera at 10:00am.
