Josephine Margaret (Failla) Spinelli

Josephine Margaret Spinelli, a lifetime resident of Madera, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 before her 95th birthday.  Daughter of Carmello Failla and Frances Faso, she was born in Madera, September 1924, the sixth of ten children.   As a teenager she met Quinto Spinelli, the love of her life. They were married in December 1945. Quinto preceded her in death in 2002.  Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and homemaker.  She loved to cook for family gatherings and her biscotti and ravioli were her signature creations. Josephine was an active member of St. Joachim’s Church. She was a member of the Italo-American Club, St. Joachim’s Church Altar Society, ICF, and YLI and life member of the VFW Post #1981 Ladies Auxiliary.  For many years she was a volunteer at Madera Community Hospital.
She leaves behind 3 sons, Bob (Patty) Spinelli, Bill (Margaret) Spinelli, Steven Spinelli, 7 grandsons, and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her sister Angelina Failla of Fresno.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera, with a vigil service to be held at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madera.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to the St. Joachim’s Catholic School Endowment Fund, 310 N. I Street, Madera, CA 93637
