Josephine M. Morini, 99, a Fresno native and a former long time resident of Madera, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, just shy of her 100th birthday.
She was born to Natale and Sarah Ricotta Bombini, Italian immigrants who had settled in Fresno. Along with her brother Maurice, they were raised in the Italian Westside community of Fresno graduating from Edison High School. She later was an employee of Bank of America both at the Fresno Main Branch and Madera Branch.
Josephine met and married Madera farmer Modesto Morini, and shared 53 years of marriage until his passing in 2010. Their lives in Madera revolved around their ranch in the La Vina district, the activities of the parish of St. Joachim and the vibrant Italian community of Madera. Cooking, baking, sewing and quilting rounded out her well lived life.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Maurice and his wife Martha, her brother- in- law Lebio Morini and his wife Lois and her sister-in-law Norma Pistoresi.
She is the devoted mother of David Morini of Fresno and Denise Jenkin and her husband Keith of Bakersfield, the beloved grandmother of Anthony Morini and his wife Carlina, Dominic Morini, Kevin Jenkin and Brian Jenkin and the great grandmother of Aspen Jenkin. Also surviving are her nephews , nieces and extended family members.
Visitation is on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 2 PM to 6 PM at Jay Chapel of Madera. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Madera.
