Joseph Narcisse Sr. age 86 a resident of Madera since 2001 passed away at his Madera residence, on Monday, January 14, 2019 following an extended illness. Joseph was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Antoine Narcisse and Eula Provost Narcisse, one of six children born to the couple. Joseph received his high school education in New Iberia, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army during the Korean era. He later moved to California settling in Palo Alto in 1960, and eventually retiring to Madera, California.
Joseph retired from The San Francisco Chronicle as a District Manager in Circulation following a career which spanned 25 years with the publication. He was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church and was a long time member of the Teamsters Union. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother George, and by sisters Rita Mae Narcisse and Margaret Majors.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Rose Marie Narcisse of Madera and by his son Joseph Narcisse Jr., and Cabrini Fontino, and son Darrell Narcisse and his wife Linda all of Houston, Texas. He is the brother of Pete Narcisse, Antione Narcisse, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Paul Narcisse of Rio Vista, California. He is the cherished grandfather of Sazenne, Eecion, Eulena and Maronda and the great grandfather of Phoenix and Xavier. Also are surviving is Lorraine Narcisse his devoted sister-in-law and Donnie Narcisse his devoted nephew and many other family members and friends who also mourn his passing.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 1 PM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera. Interment with Veteran Honors will follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery of Madera.
