Joe C Lopez

Joe C. Lopez Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on June 30, 2020 at the age of 78. He was born December 6th, 1941 in Madera, California to Joe and Elisa Lopez. He was married to his lifelong sweetheart Jessie for 55 loving years.                                              

In addition to helping his father at the family owned gas station, Joe started a career as a barber. He owned his own barbershop in Fairfield, California. He and Jessie started their own family in 1968 when their son Joseph L. Lopez III was born. They then moved back to their hometown of Madera where their second son Anthony was born.

Joe was a dedicated employee at Mission Bell Winery for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He was a fixture at all of his grandchildren’s events near and far. In addition, anyone who met him knew he was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Rosie Lares.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Jessie, son Joseph L. III, his wife Carrie, their sons Cameron and Jordan and his son Anthony, his wife Cindy, and their daughter Cierra. He is the brother of Raymond Lopez of Madera, Ruben Lopez of Stockton, CA, Mike Yturaldi of Madera, Mary Castro of Fresno, Beatrice Munoz of Madera, Josie Fimbrez of Merced, Lucy Torres of Madera, Jennie Rivera of Stockton, CA and Maggie Rubalcaba of Lathrop, CA.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Jay Chapel, with a Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 17th, 2020 at 11:00 am at Calvary Cemetery in Madera. Please read below directions regarding limits on the number of attendants for services.  

CHANGE OF SERVICES.  AS A RESULT OF NEW RULES ISSUED BY GOVERNOR NEWSOM IMPACTING FUNERALS, THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF 10 IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS ALLOWED INSIDE DURING FUNERAL SERVICES. PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS THE LIVE STREAM BROADCAST OF THE ROSARY AT 5:55 PM FROM THE CONVENIENCE OF YOUR OWN HOME. A RECORDING OF THE GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE BELOW ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE 5:00 PM FOR THE PUBLIC TO WATCH. 

REGULATIONS FOR THE MADERA CEMETERY DISTRICT ALLOW NO MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE AT GRAVESIDE SERVICES. PLEASE MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING AND WEAR A FACE MASK DURING PUBLIC GATHERINGS. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation be made to: the Madera Animal Shelter in Joe’s memory as he had a love for dogs.
