Jerry Jesse Magdaleno

January 12, 1936 – September 22, 2020

Jerry Magdaleno, 84 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 22, 2020, at his home in Fresno, CA surrounded by his family. He is survived by his sister Concha Estrada, his wife Bertha of 64 years, his six children, Jerry Jr. and wife Paula, Debbie and husband Rick, Mark and wife Diane, Janice and husband Clain, Paul and Keri, his 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Jerry was born and raised in Del Rey, CA. He attended school at Reedley College and UC
Berkeley to study civil engineering. He met his wife Bertha in 1955 and was married on
December 9, 1956. After college, he worked for the State of California Division of Highways, as a civil engineer. In 1961, the family transferred to Bakersfield and then returned to Fresno in
1965.

Jerry was an ambitious worker and started to work for Skousen Tax Service part time during tax season. In 1971, Jerry left his state job to start his own company United Tax Service. Jerry built his client base over the years and it kept him quite busy, particularly during tax season. After 45 years, he finally sold the business and retired in 2016.

Jerry was a family man and spent most of his free time with his children, grandchildren and
great grandchildren. His main hobby was following them in their many sports endeavors. He and Bertha could always be found in the stands at one of these events. Jerry instilled the importance of family and hard work in all his children and grandchildren. His legacy will live on in each of them and their families.

Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association are equally welcomed.

A rosary and mass service will be held Wednesday August 4, 2021, at 10:00am in Saint Anthony’s Church, 5770 N. Maroa, Fresno, CA 93704
