Mr James Vincent Favini

December 12, 1946 ~ November 21, 2018 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Tribute

James (Jim) Vincent Favini a native and lifelong resident of Madera County passed away at his Madera home surrounded by his loved ones, on November 21, 2018 following a courageous and hard fought battle with Cancer.

He was born in Madera, California, on December 12, 1946 to Vincent and Katie Favini. Jim attended Ripperdan Elementary, Madera High School and received his Bachelor’s degree at Fresno State University. He was a member of the Y.M.I (Young Men’s Institute of St. Joachim’s), past president of St. Joachim’s School Parent Club, former San Joaquin Memorial High School board member, a former Board member and Past President of the Madera County Board of Realtors and also served in the U.S. Army Reserve unit in Fresno.

In high school, Jim met the love of his life, Judy Bandoni, and married in 1968. Throughout high school and college, Jim worked at Ripperdan Market, a landmark in the rural farming community that his family owned for over 60 years. Customers from all over would come to purchase their groceries, deli meats and custom cuts and their famous German and Italian sausage. Until recently, Jim still made the Market’s special sausage for friends and old customers. Their market was a pioneer in what we consider a gourmet deli today and Jim was a significant part of that.

Jim enjoyed spending time with family, friends, cherished children and grandchildren, 49er’s, and of course his beloved San Francisco Giants….

Jim was preceded in death by his son Matthew Favini, parents Vince and Katie Favini. He is survived by his wife Judy, his daughter Melissa Favini Sweet, son Ryan Favini (Laurie), and five grandchildren: Nicholas, Morgan and Taylor Sweet, and Dominic and Avery Favini. Jim also leaves behind sister-in-laws Betty Montanari and Anna Hunter and brother-in-law John Stockli and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
