OBITUARY for Isabel Marquez

Isabel Marmolejo Marquez was born January 19, 1927 in Strawn, Texas to Francisco and Anastacia Marmolejo, the eighth of fourteen children. After a full and blessed life of 95 years, Isabel passed away peacefully, on Saturday, April 16, 2022, to the waiting arms of her Heavenly Father, and to reunite with her parents, husband, John Marquez, six brothers, Benny, Mack, Peter, Eno, Joe and John Marmolejo and seven sisters, Babies Maria, Rita, Connie and Frances Marmolejo, Tillie Gutierrez, Seferina Flores and Florence Marquez. Her children Anita, Tony (wife Sharon), Juanita Marquez and her grandchildren Kevin and Alyssa Marquez survive her.

Growing up, Isabel and her family lived the hard life of migrant farm workers in order to raise their large, hardworking, loving family. They worked from Texas to Minnesota and eventually moved the whole family to Madera, California in 1938. There Isabel met and married the love of her life, John Marquez in 1952. They were married for 66 years prior to his death in 2018.
Isabel was loving, kind, generous, humble, fearless, hardworking and seemingly tireless. She was a loving and dutiful daughter, a faithful wife and the best mother around. Isabel or Tía Chave as she was adoringly called by her numerous nieces and nephews loved everyone unconditionally.
Among her many hobbies and interests were crocheting, cooking, baking, reading, traveling, and anything and everything involving her family.
Isabel dedicated her life to her family and was always involved in the lives of her children, participating in scouting, 4-H, PTA, school band, all kinds of sports and lots more activities and interests of her kids. She and John also supported and encouraged their children to receive degrees from Fresno City College and CSU Fresno. There was never a task too big nor too small that she was not there for them.
Isabel was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of St. Joachim Church. She was involved in church organizations and activities.
Various health issues challenged Isabel’s last few years of her 95 years on earth. She fought them bravely with the support, love and prayers of countless family members and friends. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all of those family members and friends for supporting Mom with care, prayers and visits through those trying years. We are all truly blessed by you all. Mom-Grandma-Tía Chave-Isabel will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
