Helen Louise Ryder, 93, died on April 28, 2018, in Fresno, California. She was born December 30, 1924, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Roydon and Henrietta Barbour. Helen was educated at Havergal College in Toronto and McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
On May 3, 1947, she married Norman Ryder of Hamilton at St. George's United Church in Toronto. In their 63-year marriage, they lived in Toronto, Ottawa, and Big Bay Point at Lake Simcoe in Canada, and in the United States, in Princeton, New Jersey; Oxford, Ohio; Madison, Wisconsin; and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Their descendants include two children, Anne Poulter (Steve Poulter) of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Paul Ryder (Susan Early) of Mariposa County, California, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Helen's sister, Beverley Ann Mitchell (Gordon Mitchell), lives in Toronto, and her brother, Robert Barbour (Sybil MacMillan) lives in Kitchener, Ontario. Dr. Norman Ryder died in 2010.
