Gregory Dean Bellew was born on July 5, 1964 in Los Gatos, California. He went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2018 at the age of 54. He graduated from Madera High School in 1982. In 1983, he married Annalisa Gallegos, the love of his life. They started dating in the eighth grade and have been together ever since.
Greg began his career as a professional construction foreman working in underground pipeline construction for the last 35 years. He started his career as a laborer and pipe layer, and then became a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 3. He then became a foreman, running crews on a variety of complex underground projects throughout California. He worked for the past 6 years for Preston Pipelines in the Bay Area where he worked on multiple projects at Stanford University, and many of the large tech companies in Silicon Valley. Greg took great pride in his work. He was well respected by his coworkers and was often requested by clients to work on their projects.
On the weekends Greg enjoyed watching sports, especially the LA Rams and NASCAR. His favorite NASCAR driver was Jeff Gordon until he retired and then he chose to root for Chase Elliot. Greg loved to Barbecue for his family. If he had a choice, he would have barbecued every meal. He had a very kind heart and was the most generous man we knew. Greg loved to spoil his wife. One of his favorite things to do was take his family to Disneyland. He loved putting a smile on his wife’s face. Greg loved to spend time with his grandkids. He loved to take them kite flying, fishing, built them a play yard structure, and enjoyed watching them play baseball, karate and soccer. Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and looking at sunsets. Whenever he had the chance he loved to help his son-in-law Lance, work on the Supermodified race car. When working on the racecar, he had a variety of duties that were instrumental in the team’s ability to win 4 championships with his help. Greg’s mechanical background and observation skills made him every race team’s ideal crew member.
Greg was the most giving and welcoming person we knew. He always welcomed extended family and friends over for holidays and get-togethers. The more the merrier he would always say! Greg will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father Lewie Bellew.
Greg is survived by his wife Annalisa, with whom he celebrated 35 years of marriage in January, his children Christine and Lance Tatro, Stephanie Bellew and Jesse Dibble, Jennifer and Jared Anderson, and Gregory Bellew Jr., all of Madera, his grandchildren, Aubrey, Colby and Avery. He also leaves behind his mother, Helen Bellew, his brother, Mike and Evatte Bellew, his sister, Janice and Richard Tognotti, mother-in-law, Lilly Gallegos-Flores, nieces and nephews.
