We were saddened to read about the passing of Fred. He was our contractor for our kitchen remodel and for both our bathroom remodels. He was very personable and his work was impeccable. He was a good listener and then turned what you wanted into a reality. He was cheerful, knew how to do almost anything, and worked hard to complete your job. As a result of Fred’s caring and knowledge, we have a beautiful remodeled kitchen and two bathroom. Visitors to our home always comment about the beauty of our kitchen and bathrooms. So to his family, we send our deepest sympathies. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Know that Fred will live on in the hearts of many of us who met him as a contractor and in all the constructions projects he was a part of. May he Rest In Peace. Bob and Janice Davis

Judy and I were sad to hear of Fred's unexpected passing. He was a great neighbor to my parents and I know they truly enjoyed his company. We'll be praying for you and the kids that our Lord will give you comfort during this time. Keep trusting in the love of Christ for He will be right with you.

Beverly and the rest of the family. I'm sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I was one of Fred's employees back in 1992-1993 along with Mike Colvin, while we were attending Fresno State's construction management program. Fred provided an invaluable opportunity to us that I am forever thankful of. Fred taught us more than just how to build things, he taught the importance of relationships with clients, other tradesmen and suppliers. He taught us about frugality and running a business. As you can recall his stacks and rows of empty 5 gal paint buckets stored behind the gate, I too have become a hoarder of buckets; 101 uses... By providing industry related jobs to several of us in the construction management program, we were able to confidently walk into interviews for some of the largest construction companies in the nation, knowing we had something to offer. As you are joined by friends and family celebrating and honoring Fred's life, I pray for God's warm and peaceful presence over you and the rest of your family. "Thank you, Fred."

I was very sorry to hear Fred passed away. He had a big impact on my life. He hired me not long after my girlfriend (and later wife) and I moved to Fresno so I could work on my Construction Management degree at Fresno State. I'm not sure why he hired me because I had no construction experience. I responded to an ad on a bulletin board in the Construction Dept. at Fresno State and called him every day and left a message for two weeks. I didn't realize he was on vacation, so when he got home he had quite a few messages from me. We set up an interview and despite my lack of experience he gave me shot.

He was a great boss taking me under his wing and teaching me a multitude of things. Iverson Contracting was a unique company because he was able to do so many things. If it wasn't large where it made sense to hire a subcontractor, Fred and our team would do anything. Nothing intimidated him, we did electrical, plumbing, framing, roofing, concrete sheetrock whatever. It was amazing that he could guide us and we would come out with a professional product no matter what we did.

Fred really took pride in our jobs, he cared about all the details, but at the same time he was sharing his knowledge with us and we all learning. He also cared about us and our welfare, he tried to give us hours even when things were slow and he didn't have money coming in. We would organize the shop and trucks and make sure everything was ready for the next job.

Fred also had a great rapport with all his customers. He prided himself on not needing to advertise in the traditional sense. His quality work and his past customers were his advertising.

I feel bad that I didn't keep in contact but that is more of a flaw with me than lack of desire. When I move on it's very likely you won't hear from me again.

I've built and fixed so many things around my house that I lose track. I've built and fixed many things for neighbors and friends too and it all goes back to my time working for Fred. I really didn't know how to do anything construction related when I met Fed, but now I'm confident to pour a slab or frame a room, wire 240v dryer connection or whatever. I tell my family every time I start a project that I learned this working with Fred. I've said it so many times they just expect to hear it.

After graduating I got a job with Penhall Co. where I've worked on many projects as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, Estimator and Project Manager. I've spent multiple years working at nuclear power plants, I've torn down many bridges, worked for years on seismic retrofits and I believe some of it came from the confidence I gained while working with Fred.

So, in closing, I'd like to say I'm very sorry about his passing, but also very grateful that I was able spend time with him and somewhat carry on his building tradition in my own small way.

Rest in peace Fred,

Mike Colvin

Dear Family
I am so sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. My prayers are with you at this difficult time. I attended church and high school with Fred. I remember how conscientious he was, and if a project needed a leader he was the one to see that it was done and done properly.

Bev and Family:
We were "blown away" when we heard the news about Mr. Freds passing.
I can still hear his admonishment to the Scouts before every campground
saying " You WILL NOT cook with pizza quick sauce".
Fred was an inspiration to many young men who will walk the better path in life.
