Frank Garcia Chavira

Frank Chavira, of Madera, CA, passed away on Sunday July 03, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones.  He was 88 years old. Mr. Chavira was born January 22, 1934, in La Mesilla, New Mexico, to Nolberto Sr.  & Francisca Chavira.  He was one of 13 children.  Frank grew up in La Mesilla, and in 1948, he moved west to Madera, California, where he resided until death.

After moving to Madera, he met and married, Carlotta Lopez, in 1953.  They made their home in Madera, California where they began their family.  Together they started Frank Chavira Trucking. Which is now a family owned and operated.  Mr. & Mrs. Chavira are beloved members of their community, always participating in city and school events. His trucks were always seen in the parades, and homecoming activities. He and Carlotta were the first Latino couple to be named the King & Queen of the Old Timer’s Parade.  Mr. Chavira was a hardworking, loyal man who was able to pass along those traits to his children, and grandchildren. He created a legacy that will be cherished for generations.  

In retirement, Frank’s joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sitting at the yard “helping” or supervising his boys while they got the trucks ready for the week. He always like to see his trucks looking good, rubber down, shiny side up. He was an active member of the St Joaquin Catholic Church. 

Frank Chavira Sr. is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Carlotta Chavira of Madera, CA; children Albert Chavira, Rosemary Perez; Delia & Arthur Chapa; Sammy & Elizabeth Chavira, Henry Chavira, and Frankie Chavira; his siblings, JoAnn Chavira- Romo, Joe Chavira; Aurora Cisneros, all of Madera, CA; 20 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren. Frank preceded in death by his son Jesse Chavira.

Viewing & Rosary will be held Wednesday July 13, 2022, at 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm followed by a Rosary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 14, 2022, 9:30 am at St. Joachim Catholic Church, followed by graveside services at Calvary Cemetery.
