Floyd Avalos Rios passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022 in Fresno, California. He was born in San Fernando, California on May 23, 1946.
Floyd graduated from Madera high school. Upon graduating, he entered the United States Navy, serving on the Carrier USS Enterprise CVN-65 during the Vietnam War. After his military service he continued his studies and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State University in criminology and corrections. Floyd retired after forty-two years from the State of California. Like his mother, Adelina Rios, Floyd enjoyed growing his beautiful roses and maintaining his manicured yard. He was an excellent fisherman and his hobby at home was working with and creating his fishing lures. Floyd was a hunter and always enjoyed camping and hiking with his family.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents Jose Hernandez and Adelina Avalos Rios, sister Lupe Grijalva, brother Paul Rios, and his granddaughter Danielle Sosa. He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years Irene Rios, children Michael and Matthew Rios, Aileen Pedrosa and three grandchildren of Bakersfield, California, Adam and Denise Rios and three grandchildren of Fresno, California. Also surviving Floyd are his siblings Joe (Cecilia) Rios, Tomas (Gregoria) Rios, Tony (Laura) Rios and Martha Rios of Madera, California, George (Katie) Rios of Fresno, California, Juan Rios of Los Angeles, California, Fernando Rios of Modesto, California, Jacinto Rios of San Jose, California, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Jay Chapel on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Rosary also at Jay Chapel, 6:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 18, 2022, 9:30 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Madera, CA
