Florence Bernice Gilles, age 93, passed away peacefully at her Madera home, on Monday, February 25, 2019 surrounded by her family. A native of Wisconsin, Florence was a resident of Madera since 1964 where she had been a Nurse’s Assistant at Westgate Convalescent Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary of the parish.
In addition to her parents John and Elizabeth Hartung, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Arnold Gilles in 2004 and by a son Bruce in 2002.
Florence is survived by her children, Patricia Rousey of Madera, son Michael Gilles and his wife Cathy of Fresno, daughter Glenda Dwyer and husband Ed of Hanford, son Bryon Gilles and his wife Martha of Madera, daughter in law Corrine Gilles of Jefferson, Maine, son Gary Gilles and his wife Kristy of Fresno. She is grandmother of Russell Gomes, Brian Perkins, Michael Perkins, Jason Gilles, Nathaniel Gilles, Brandon Gilles, Robert Gilles, Kevin Gilles, Kelly Gilles, Carrie Rousey, Chelsea Gilles, Jennifer Gilles, Sarah Gilles, and Lindsey Gilles and is Great Grandmother of 15.
Visitation will be on Monday March 4, 2019 from 4 to 7 PM at Jay Chapel, with Recitation of the Rosary following at 7 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church with interment following at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.
