Eufemia Gomez Tijero

Eufemia Gomez Tijero, of Madera passed away on Saturday July 9, 2022 at home peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was 69 years old. Eufemia was born on September 9, 1952 in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon Mexico to Dominga Ozuna Gomez and Domingo Gomez.

Eufemia was a homemaker of 40+ years and spent the last of her years looking after her grandchildren. She was a woman of strength and independency. She was beautiful inside and out, very clever and creative. She was a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, great-grandmother, Sister and Godmother. There wasn’t anything Eufemia could not set her mind to and not complete it.  Before becoming a homemaker, she was a hard worker. Eufemia worked as a migrant worker who traveled with her mother, father, and siblings throughout California, Oregon and Washington from a very young age. She attended and graduated Madera High School where she later met her husband.

She married Alfonso Barocio Tijero on February 2, 1974. She continued to work in the Valley of Madera doing seasonal jobs such as working in the Cotton fields and harvesting grapes. After having three children, Eufemia and Alfonso purchased their first home in 1982 in Madera. She later had two more children.

Eufemia was fortunate to have had the time to be a homemaker, gardener, and cared for her children and grandchildren that would later grow up in their home of 40 years.  She traveled to Texas to visit her sisters, Monterrey Mexico to visit her brother and often traveled to the State of Michoacán to visit the family who she married in to. She enjoyed shopping dates with her daughters, granddaughters, lunch dates with her children and grandchildren, having breakfast after Sunday mass with her husband. She was a devoted Catholic.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years Alfonso B Tijero and 5 children Maria T. Vega, Rosa T. Miranda, Alfonso G. Tijero, Juan Francisco G. Tijero, and Annita G. Tijero, 1 daughter in law, 3 sons in laws, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 11 siblings. Her death is mourned by many more family members all of California, Texas and Monterrey Mexico.  She leaves a legacy that no matter how challenging life can be, or how difficult a situation can get, you have to get up and keep going. “Where there is a will, there is a way”.

Mom, Wife, Grandma, Sister… you will be missed so dearly. You have left bits and pieces of yourself in each and everyone one of us. Now, as you rest, you can watch us grow and flourish into what you have instilled in us. We celebrate your life with peace and love.
 
Services for our beloved Eufemia will be as followed:
The Rosary will be located at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church on Thursday July 21, 2022 at 6:00 pm. Mass will take place also at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church on  Friday July 22, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by the burial located at Arbor Vitae Cemetery 1301 Roberts Ave. Madera, CA 93637
