Emily La Mattina

Emily La Mattina, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2020 in Madera, Ca. Emily was born on December 27, 1937 to Amedeo and Isabella La Mattina in Madera, Ca. Emily graduated in 1956 from Madera Union High School. From the day Emily was old enough to work, she worked on the farm with her dad until she was 15.She then worked as a car hop until the age of 16. Emily worked as an usher at the Madera Theatre when she was 17. Then she went to work part time at Calaway Drug when she was 17. After graduating she went full time from 1955-1961 and also worked part time at night at the Maple Room as a cocktail waitress in 1961. Emily moved to Fresno and worked part time at Montgomery Ward, and then worked full time at Casner’s Drug. She stayed home for five or six years and took care of the kids while also babysitting for other families. After moving back to Madera, Emily worked at the O’Grady’s Dress Shop full time from 1969-1970 while she also worked as a cocktail waitress at the T-Room. From there Emily worked full time as a bartender at the T-Room from 1970-1985, the Vintage Room from 1986-1987, and then Frankie’s in 1987.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents Amedeo and Isabella La Mattina, her son Daniel La Mattina, two brothers Ernest La Mattina and Leon La Mattina, and her nephew Sammy La Mattina.

Emily is survived by her daughter Tammie La Mattina and Doug Dawson of Chowchilla, her sister Michele La Mattina, her grandson Nathan and his wife Bresha La Mattina and their children Nevaeh and Talan, granddaughter Cassie and her husband Jesse Croxen and their children Colton, Corbin, ad Callie, her grandson Nicco and his wife Tracy La Mattina and their children Briana, Hayden and Ferra, and her granddaughter Dominoe La Mattina and Luke Haynes and their children Lucio, Bella, Emeliyn and Sylar. Emily also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Flowers can be sent directly to Jay Chapel Funeral Home and we will transport them to Calvary Cemetery for the Graveside Service. If possible, please have flower deliveries made before 10 AM on Thursday, July 9, 202 to Jay Chapel.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery in Madera, Ca.
